A leading supplier of peritoneal dialysis techniques has been sourcing FDA-approved custom-designed micro-optics scopes from
members of the BioVision team for more than a decade.
This firm developed and continues to develop innovative catheters which outperform traditional catheters in flexibility, variability of tunnel/exit capacity, flow rate, and other key measures that affect patient outcomes and quality of life. For many patients the one-time implantation of this innovative catheter can replace traditional blood dialysis. One of the technologies that makes this innovative catheter possible is a semi-rigid endoscope used to guide implantation. BioVision team members designed and have been supplying these scopes since the mid-1980s, in both rigid and semi-rigid versions. The current scope is 2.2mm in diameter, semi-rigid, and autoclavable. The minimally invasive nature of the implantation procedure and ease of implantation made possible by the BioVision scope, together with the portable BioVision SurgView™ mini-tower, potentially allow for expanded applications for this catheter; the BioVision team is exploring this possibility together with the dialysis company. Upon signing of a non-disclosure we are happy to provide contacts and references within this dialysis client. |
