The expertise offered by the BioVision team in customizable end-to-end medical micro-visualization solutions is rapidly making BioVision the imaging partner of choice for innovative medical device start- ups. Currently, several new minimally invasive or endoluminal devices and medical procedures, enabled by BioVision’s micro-visualization solutions, are in various phases of FDA clinical trials. These devices, and the micro-visualization systems that enable them, together create the possibility of minimally invasive procedures designed to:
The BioVision scopes being used in the clinical trials for these procedures range from 0.6mm to 2mm in outer diameter, and from 300mm to 1m long. Some are rigid, some semi-rigid, and some fully flexible, and several can be articulated. In each case, scopes are fully compatible for use with standard endoscopic cameras, but visualization quality significantly improves when the scopes are optimized for performance with the SurgView™, a fully portable image display and capture system developed by the BioVision team. BioVision's most recent development is a 30° direction of view objective for small fiber-scopes (patent pending). This opens many applications that have never been possible before in micro-endoscope size ranges. There are, no doubt, many untapped applications for this exciting optical development. The best news is that this feature adds only nominal cost to a standard endoscope. |
