Volume Pricing

Maximizing value for our partners and the physicians and patients they serve

Traditional endoscope manufacturers, particularly when manufacturing micro-endoscopes (1.5mm outer diameter and below) are generally limited in their ability to offer volume pricing discounts. This is because traditional manufacturers depend on:

  • Materials (such as SELFOC™ lens technology) which are extremely expensive – and tightly controlled
  • Designs and redesign procedures that are slow and costly
  • Endoscope structures that are often designed to work only with proprietary endoscope towers or other video imaging systems
  • Endoscope towers that depend on costly image-enhancement software, high-powered light sources, and other components to compensate for poor images
  • Manufacturing processes that require major retooling for any new design

As a result of these factors, most traditional endoscope manufacturers, regardless of the volume involved, are unable to provide finished high-quality micro-endoscopes for less than $750 - $1000/scope, or to provide integrated endoscope towers for less than some $30,000 per tower. By contrast, BioVision is able to provide micro-endoscopes and SurgView™ portable endoscope towers for a fraction of those costs in volume production, by utilizing innovative combinations of:
  • Materials (such as custom-designed image fibers and micro-lenses and micro-prisms manufactured using proprietary processes) that are both more flexible and more cost-effective than GRIN-based technology
  • Designs which maximize flexible, efficient manufacturing, and streamlined, proprietary design procedures that reduce redesign costs
  • A standard endoscope docking structure that is designed to be compatible with all standard endoscope cameras – although visualization quality improves even further compared with traditional products when BioVision scopes are optimized for performance with the BioVision SurgView™ tower
  • A compact, portable endoscope tower – the SurgView™ – that is freed by the quality of BioVision scopes from the need to enhance sub-optimal images, and thus allows customized camera mounts and other design options in a portable package that sells for a fraction of the cost of traditional endoscope towers.
  • Manufacturing that combines optimized world-wide sourcing of key materials and components with proprietary manufacturing processes and technologies to slash costs and improve time-to-market as compared with traditional endoscopes
The BioVision team looks forward to putting these advantages to work to provide custom micro-visualization solutions for your endoluminal and minimally invasive medical needs.

For instance, until now, disposable sub 1.5mm imaging scopes have long been a dream of medical imaging companies. By 2004, BioVision had designed and manufactured the first truly single use disposable arthroscope for office arthroscopy. With over 10,000 BioVision disposable arthroscopes scopes manufactured to date, the dream has been realized.

As another first-in-class development, the BioVision team designed and built the first sub 1mm truly autoclavable scope. Our autoclavable endoscopes have been designed to meet or exceed the harsh sterilization environment of today’s steam autoclaves. With upwards of 50 sterilization cycles, no product in its class comes close in performance and quality.
